With summer fast approaching and its warm days on the brink of revealing wondrous new lists of music. ....well I mean it IS June, so I guess we can say summer is figuratively here so bring on the tunes! and hopefully everyone is going to LOADS of music festivals and concerts this year! Yes? No?
If you are thinking about it try looking on Musicfestivaljunkies.com
Its the go-to place for everything geared towards music festivals! Canadian or US they pretty much have every festival out there, which is awesome in terms of planning.
If you are losing your F.V or as I like to call it your "Festival Virginity" this summer then follow my quick, mini, in a nutshell survival guide on Music Festivals.
CLOE'S QUICK, MINI, IN-A-NUTSHELL SURVIVAL GUIDE TO MUSIC FESTIVALS:
1. Check the weather report the day before and make sure you DRESS/PACK ACCORDINGLY!
(Packing Examples: Money, hand-sanitizer, lipbalm with SPF <-- I'm serious about the lipbalm...)
2. Make sure you have WATER and FOOD.
Even if you have even a granola bar or a bag of chips on you it is better than nothing! And in these hot and rather sticky summer months water is A MUST! There will normally be a water refill station somewhere at the venue or a place that sells it. STAY HYDRATED! You do NOT want to be passing out and getting trampled in the pits or anything.
3. No dresses, no skirts....just no....
4. Make sure you know the schedule and if you want good standing area to see your favorite band, GET TO THE STAGE EARLY!
5. If you are gonna be drinking, don't start too early. You wanna remember seeing your favorite band perform, am I right?
6. NEVER WEAR FLIP FLOPS! Unless you want your feet destroyed by the end of the day.
7. HAVE A DEDICATED DRIVER! I have run into many problems with this one....many stupid problems that could have been easily avoided.....
8. SUNSCREEN! SUNSCREEN! SUNSCREEN!
9. Try going to see bands you've never really heard of before if you have some time to blow. Stumbling upon a new band that you enjoy is like finding a heart container at the bottom of Lake Hylia! Its a great feeling!
10. Try to respect ALL of the bands at the show, regardless if you like them or not. This one can be a tough one to follow, but think of it this way. They are all trying to make a living just like the rest of us and they are lucky enough to be doing it through music. So the least you can do is show support for everyone performing.
and FINALLY
11. Be prepared to get dirty, sweaty, frustrated and exhilarated. You will be seeing a lot of things throughout the day, so remember to just have fun. Cause if you are a "Negative Nelly" at one of these events you are gonna bring everyone else down and then they will hate you for it. No lie.
So shut up, listen to the music and enjoy it. Cause summer is only here for a short period of time.
xoxo
